Who We Are

We are Kyle and CeAnn Newton. If you are reading this, that is probably a given! We have been married for almost 10 years. (We know! We have a hard time believing it too!)  This blog is dedicated to our adoption journey. We are so thankful you stopped by. We would love for you to keep up with us as we walk this path to parenthood. (We'd love for you to keep up with us once we have arrived at the destination--we realize it isn't really a destination, but a starting point.  This page is just a little bit about us. On our homepage we will, hopefully, keep you up to date with where we are in the process.

Most importantly we are Christians. We both trusted Christ as our Savior during childhood. We are striving to make the Lord and His Word the center of our lives each and everyday. We are thankful to have the opportunity to build a home that is founded on Him.

Why Adoption?

There are a plethora of reasons we have decided to adopt. Some theological, some emotional, some practical.  Every adoptive couple we have met has had different reasons for choosing to adopt. Their stories look different; each full of their own challenges and blessings. Here, in brief, is our story.

Kyle and I met in college. Somewhere along the road to marriage, we started talking about wanting children someday. Adoption was something we had a heart for, but we always figured we would have children by birth first. As years began to pass and the Lord still hadn't blessed us with any children we began prayerfully to consider our options. After some doctors visits, we began briefly down the road of infertility treatments. Despite really liking my doctor and his staff, we really questioned whether this was the path the Lord had for us. So, we took a long pause, a deep breath, and did a lot more praying and talking. Since we were already open to building our family through adoption we thought, "Why wait?"  Now if you know us personally, you know we rarely do things on impulse. So, you won't be surprised that the idea that we wanted to adopt really meant we were going to keep thinking, praying, and talking about it for a few more months. During that time we also began reading Adopted for Life by Russell Moore. This was a tremendously helpful book. It inflamed our conviction that this really was the path the Lord had us on. It gave us a powerful reminder that just as God in his Sovereign plan adopted us into his family, it is also his Sovereign plan that the Church care for orphans. So, after doing a lot of research and some more praying we applied to adopt with American World. For lots of reasons we have chosen to adopt domestically this first time. We are hoping to adopt an infant, but that is about all we know. So, there it is. It wasn't exactly brief, but that's our story...so far.
