Just a quick note to let you all know we are moving our blog. (I know we just got here...) The technical one of the family ~ um... that would be Kyle, NOT CeAnn ~ started on a new site. A service with a free price tag is appreciated, but sometimes it can't be tweaked the way you want. So, this won't surprise some of you, he went and built his own website! I came home from a ladies meeting at church and he says, "I have something I want to show you".... and there it was. Okay it wasn't quite that quick, but he really had sketched a good bit of it out already. He has been working on some of the behind the scenes things of our new blog ever since. So, if you will just follow me over here I will introduce you to our new, ever so pretty blog! www.forthebairns.com

Deciphering the blog name and an update
So, there has been some questions as to why we named our blog "For the Bairns." Those of you who know me well, know that I LOVE words. I do realize that not everyone finds reading the dictionary, page by page, or playing a game entirely based on the etymology of words and expressions fun. (but there are some of us who find these things delightful!) Bairns simply means children. So, the blog really is "for the children." The term bairn has it's roots in Scotland and Northern England.
Why did we pick it? The story is a bit long... Last fall I opened an etsy shop. At that time, we were sure we wanted to adopt, but we hadn't even applied yet. I had started making things for friends and family members who were having babies and thought that maybe I could sell some of these same items to help fund our adoption. (humorously, I have sold a lot more by word of mouth than on etsy... but I digress.) The shop needed a name. I was primarily making items for children, and saving my earnings to help fund our future adoption....so those factors along with the aforementioned love of words brought about the "For the Bairns" shop. When we started the blog it just seemed fitting to continue the theme. We want this blog to be a tangible memory for us and "for the children" of the way the Lord brought them into our family. The question that follows why is usually "how do you say bairn?" It is said pretty much how it looks -- think bear with a "n" sound after it. So, there is the unraveled mystery!

Update
We were notified last week that our profile book had been approved. We promptly ordered and sent it to the adoption agency. It arrived at American World earlier this week. So, we are officially entering the adoption pool. As you think of it, we'd appreciate your prayers for grace as we patiently wait for the Lord to bring a child into our home. I have spent sometime this week reading other adoption blogs and reminding myself that the wait can be long and bumpy. I tend to be overly optimistic at times and expect life to just be smooth sailing. It is these times that I am particularly thankful that the Lord gave me Kyle, who kindly helps me keep a foot or two firmly planted in reality! I have recently been meditating on Psalm 145:17. The Lord's kindness and righteousness continually overwhelm and amaze me.
Psalm 145:17
The Lord is righteous in all his ways,
and kind in all his works.

Adoption ~ Here we come!
So, here is our first post. I will try to be concise. Kyle likes to say, "Don't say with two words what you can say with one." So, I will try...
We are in the process of adopting. We are super excited about it! We have actually been in the process for several months, but we wanted to get a little bit down the road before announcing it.
After a lot of prayer, discussion, and counsel we decided to adopt domestically this first time. At this point in the process we have passed our Home Study. This included turning in a good bit of paperwork (ours was over 100 pages), having several interviews with our Social Worker, and passing a home inspection. We received our paperwork back with the thrilling word "passed" on it. Now we are working on building our profile book to enter the adoption pool. If you would like the longer story about how we got to this point you can read it on our "about us" page.
We don't have one. For much of the process we won't. It could be weeks it could be years (literally). But we are thankful that our Lord does have a schedule and we know that our journey will progress exactly as He has planned.
Ecclesiastes 3:14 ~ I know that whatever God does it shall be forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.
So, that is the long and short of it. We would love for you to continue to pray with us that we would joyfully trust and rest in our Lord.

So Where Are We?
Time Frame?
